Assessment task 2B: Model/ Scale
I chosen the technique that OMA focus on the Jussieu library wood model is ‘slabs and columns and spatial loops’. Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) is created by Rem Koolhaas in 1975 in Netherlands. Rem Koolhaas and OMA have had a profound and far-reaching impact on contemporary international architecture.

Research and Reflection on the OMA and Jussieu-two librarlies
‘Instead of a simple stacking of floors, sections of each level are manipulated to touch those above and below; all the planes are connected by a single trajectory, a warped interior boulevard that exposes and related all programmatic elements.’ (Koolhaas et al.) The connection of the airplane is one of the main techniques used by the architect to create the Jussieu library.

This is my first experimenting model to try create ( Figure 2)with iteration and columns. I try to use columns to support the wood board with glue to stick the layer.

My second experimenting model with iteration and loops.(Figure 3) I try to use loops made a building.

The third model (Figure 4)experimenting with iteration and loops. I used both slabs and columns to create a continuous movement.

This is my fourth model experimenting with iteration and layer. Since it is a public space, a vast city inside the structure, the height of the ceiling to the floor is also increased. The elevators of the Central Mall are now changed to part of the slab. It is a staircase now.

This is my five experimenting model which use iteration and loops.

The public space that I have chosen is the centre park mall and I focus on the inside of the structure of building. I chose this structure around UTS because it somewhat resides to the Jussieu-Two Libraries-OMA . Like the architects in OMA, I experimented with wood board trying to create slabs that are connect with each other. During these five experimenting models, I am trying to redesign the Centre Park Mall using the main key techniques used by OMA architects. In the Final model, I add more elements that to build the model of Centre Park Mall. I use the Centre park mall layer to cut my slabs and the roof of model is open. OMA is unique style of architecture connects the world in an interior of a library linking and allowing the public to have a network together.
