Growing deep roots.
I read the story of a Doctor whose hobby asides his medical practice, was to plant trees. He did it for fun and he even had a few theories about growing trees. He believed in the no-pain, no-gain school of thought. He never watered his trees. When asked, he said watering plants weakened them. Every morning he would swipe the young trees with rolled up newspapers. All he did for those tress was against conventional wisdom. He said watering them would make them grow weak roots. Those that were not watered, grew deep roots.
The writer of the story then planted his own trees, watered them, sheltered them.
Years later, the Doctor’s trees would stand strong against any adversity. The writer’s trees? They quivered at the passing of every wind.
Differentiate between strong roots and weak roots.
Know when adversity is in your favor.
Lastly, stop asking that things be easy, ask rather, for deep roots to stand through it all.
