This is so important. Staying engaged with the writing, even a word at a time, is vital to keeping the wheels turning while you deal with non-writing life. And staring. One of my favourite pastimes.
Kerri — your suggestion is spot-on. Taking back control is key and saying “I will...” is another step forward in defining our own boundaries. I will remember to use it!

Absolutely, and I would never want to be someone who wastes things just because they can. There’s a middle ground where you realise that the last 0.5cm of toothpaste is not worth the effort expended in coaxing it from the tube; and that scraps of food clinging to the tin are no longer the difference between starving and just hungry.
