What would Carrie do?

In Candace Bushnell’s ‘fictional’ but not always ‘fictional’, Sex and the City, I wonder if Candace or Carrie Bradshaw ever worried about there Mom (Carrie’s Dad left their family) or family members reading her columns? She wrote about some things that I’m not sure I’d want my Mom and Dad to know. However I’ve decided to say ‘F*’ it and just go for it.

In 6th grade I was voted as ‘most likely to be a writer’. I’ve always enjoyed writing, I’m definitely not grammatically correct and probably could use a brush up on style but again F* it. I was in love with Brandon Walsh that ran the Beverly Beat newspaper and when Sex and the City and Carrie Bradshaw the writer came on the scene, I thought damn, that’s what I was supposed to do. But low and behold I chose a very different path. I now use ‘communications’ people for any writing at work outside of an email (and even then…). But the point is I’m not a ‘professional’ writer.

Current situation. Apparently blogging is a big deal. Anyone, including present company, can just start writing somewhere and publish it. That’s pretty cool I guess. I write stuff on Facebook, Instagram, etc… I’ve got a WordPress, Tumbler and surely some other accounts too that I’ve basically signed up on. I’ve tried to make it the sites look pretty and then never wrote anything. I just read an article on Medium about a similar problem and decided, yep, you guessed it, F*it.

Last weekend, in a drunken haze (but not too hazy) my girlfriend suggested that I write and that I blog. I have a lot to say and a lot of stories to write. I hope that some of you will read my stories. I hope you can identify with them. I hope that you will laugh, cry and become inspired. And if not, then that’s cool too. Here we go.
