After-school Agenda

3:30 P.M.
School’s done. It’s raining.
On my way to the place of the day.
Public transportation all the way. Gee, I’m soaking wet.

5:00 P.M.
I’m now at the venue. 19th floor. Can’t help but curse the slow elevator.
Enter the room. I’m the last to arrive.
Esquire magazines scattered everywhere. Everyone’s feet on the table.
Messy but familiar. Michael’s condo. One of my favourite places.
While removing my shoes, a towel was thrown in front of me,
“There you go wet duck, you look like a mess. Be fast.”

5:42 P.M.
Drying my hair with one hand while hanging my uniform at the back of the fridge.
“Good thing you have clothes in our places, huh?” one of my good friends commented.
I slumped at the sofa. The talking began. Who said boys are not gossips?
We talked about school. There were now only five of us who still haven’t finished college.
15 minutes later, it’s my turn to do the talking. I said the usual, school sucks and I can’t wait for graduation.
My friends, despite being men gave me a sympathetic look. They know how much my current school makes me sad, regretful, imprisoned and lazy. How much the damn school bores me to death.
I reached for the Pepsi then chugged it down.
“Be patient, in a year you’re going to leave the place…Hell, you don’t belong there.” Al commented.
“I know” the only thing I can say.
“With those type of majority every fucking day? Let us congratulate you.”

6:58 P.M.
We’re smelling smoke- a delicious smoke. We ran to the balcony.
The barbecues are not yet ready. They began setting the dining area while I look at the building lights thinking about the home works I haven’t started yet. Oh how much I love my stellar grades the same way I hate my school.
24 minutes later, we’re already eating. Laughing, eating and drinking. How I love these guys.

9:48 P.M.
The fourth CD just stopped playing.
We’re still laughing. We’re still talking. We’re even shouting.
Two of my friends are drinking Hennessy. One is smoking.

10:20 P.M.
I checked my uniform while smiling to myself. I have the best boy friends in the planet. We’ve been friends since fourth grade. It’s both funny and overwhelming that we’re all still close to each other.

1:55 A.M.
On my way home.
Sitting on the passenger seat while drumming my fingers on my lap.
A favourite Click 5 song is playing.
I remember the fun moments awhile ago. I remember the hugs and fist bumps.
I will always be their princess regardless of their girlfriends, the same way they will always be my knights.

2:45 A.M.
I waved goodbye to my friend who volunteered to bring me home tonight.
Oh how I love my life after school.

3:02 A.M.
Fuck. I have a paper due tomorrow.
