Lahore….A vibrant place full of colours and contrast, with squalor and splendour, wide green boulevards and chaotic small streets. The locals have a saying ”if you haven’t seen Lahore, you haven’t been born yet”

Our visit

On a pleasurable morning, we embarked on our journey from Islamabad to Lahore which was of at least 5 Hours. The journey was very exhausting, especially when you travel with your siblings. However, we reached our aunt’s house in Shahdara, Lahore, we took a quick nap for 2 hours and at night when the city was filled with lights we went to explore the wonders of the city. First we went to Badshahi Masjid a vivid and lively ancient mosque in the heart of Lahore. Even though it was a bit chilly at the time but we ignored the cold weather and enjoyed a lot.

After that, we had dinner at Haveli restaurant. The food was very luscious and the restaurant was very colourful.

Then, we decided to go for a stroll in the food street, we decided that we won’t eat anything because we just had a heavy dinner but we couldn’t resist and had some tandoori chai, goll gappay, jalebi and gulab jamun

Now, we got so tired and no longer had the strength for exploring any further, So we headed towards our aunt’s house where we spent the night. The next day we woke up late like, 12:00 am in the morning. We had breakfast and headed towards the second part of our adventure. We decided to go to the Wagah Border, an army outpost on the Indo-Pak border between Amritsar and Lahore. The ceremony starts every evening before sunset with a blustering parade by the soldiers from both sides and ends with a retreat that involves a brusque handshake between soldiers each side followed by closing of gates.

After witnessing the stunning parade, we headed back to Islamabad, keeping in our hearts the unforgettable memories of the best time we had in the best city of Pakistan (in my view).

✨ Remember the saying “if you haven’t seen Lahore, you haven’t been born yet”, have YOU seen Lahore yet? Feel free to share your experience or remarks on this blog in the comments!
