April 3 is World Party Day, some of you may have heard of it P Day. It hopes to promote world peace and harmony by bringing people together once a year in celebration. This holiday started in 1996 thanks to an idea proposed in a novel called Flight: A Quantum Fiction Novel by Vanna Bonta. Search and use the hashtag #WorldPartyDay to find and take part in various events. They crop up all over. Since we are in the mood for celebrating (and who isn’t?) we decided to dig up some stories on 360 Stories about other celebrations happening in the month of April!

Our first stop for a good old fashioned party is Madrid, which is well known for its legendary nightlife. According to our storyteller, the party scene in Madrid can be compared with New York as being one of the liveliest cities in the world! You won’t run out of party venues to check out, because honestly, the list is so long, but a good place to start to find a crazy party is the area of La Latina. This city is bustling with celebrations all the time, with charming places to chill out and enjoy a drink whether or not there’s a football game happening that night!

Now all of us might not manage to celebrate World Party Day but have no fear, there are other cool events to look forward to around the world in April! One is going to take place on April 6, in fact. It’s just the celebration to help you embrace your inner child and have good old fashioned fun as you can guess from its name, International Pillow Fight Day! This takes place on the first Saturday of the month of April (so in 2019, that’s April 6). It’s a day where you take your most fluffy pillow and take to the streets in a worldwide feathery flashmob. As our storyteller from Amsterdam tells us, people get together in public areas, bringing pillows with them and start an all-out pillow fight. It’s lots of fun and free of charge, plus anyone can participate no matter how old you are!

Another event happening in April in Amsterdam is something that we spoke about before! The celebration on our mind is the famous King’s Day carnival! That’s the day when the city is covered in a sea of orange, as everyone dresses up and parties to celebrate the birthday of their royalty. It’s so fun and popular that we have more than one story talking about it. In this one, we learn that even though the King’s Day is on April 27, the partying actually starts the night before! We also learn that everyone is allowed to sell or trade their unwanted items on King’s Day, giving you the perfect chance to find some great bargains and interesting items from some of the old houses of locals!

So, who is ready to grab their party gear for the exciting month of April? Do you know of other parties and celebrations that take place every year in April? Share your stories with us on our 360 Stories platform and let the world know!
