The Internet is a valuable resource for education, but people may lose interest in other aspects of their lives. There are more and more people become addicted to the internet. It is a common problem for young adults and kids. If you check your social media pages often and have a internet addiction, here are some tips to avoid Internet addiction.

  1. Set a limited time for computer use. Before using your computer, ser a time limit for half to one hour, or create a shutdown timer. It can shutdown your computer after a predesignated time. For example, I always time myself for one hour of socializing, after one hour, I must get some work done before I touch any electronic device again. Make sure to put away your cellphone while doing your work. You are less likely to use it when you don’t see it.
  2. Try to use the computer at the library. The library is a good place to get work done, they have a limit of time that you can stay online. Also, you can’t look at certain websites, it will help you focus on the task. I recommend this to all of the students.
  3. Instead of sending messages or texts, call them. I think that waiting for people’s response is distracting you from your task, if you want to ask them to hang out or trying to get help on your homework, talking over the phone or in person would be a better way than texting.

After more than 30 minutes on a computer or cellphone, get up and try to look at some plants from a distance, it will prevent eye and muscle fatigue.
