Modern Architectural Design and its influence on Graphic and Web Design
With the explosion of Bauhaus’ principles on Architectural and furniture design in the 1920’s the world’s views on design changed, with the effects trickling into pop culture, art, furniture and fashion. The aesthetic world everyone had once accepted was changing.
Popular design moved away from the complicated, contemporary design left over from the Enlightenment period of history to be replaced by a minimal, practical approach. These design philosophies were accelerated by the “Mod” culture in the 70’s. These design trends are still apparent to this day, with the world of Web Design pertaining to a minimalist approach.
Modern architecture revolves around a simple archetype. Buildings generally have flat, linear exteriors with little adornment, contrasting to the grand, intricate designs of old.
