National Geographic: A history of.

The initial iterations of the website are naturally ancient feeling. This is to be expected as the internet was still in its relative infancy. All websites had the same simple HTML based table structure, as showed below;

The website had an unusual landing page, with all the information closely clumped together making it very inaccessible for the user. The website decided to move towards a more recognizable template in the 2000 version of the website. The design is much more standard compared to today’s versions of web designs. The UX has been greatly improved.

The layout of the website took another large change in 2011, the navigation bar switched to the top end of the website as opposed to earlier practices and trends which favored a left sided navigation bar.

In its current iteration of the website, the layout and UX resemble more modern design.
