Week 8: Who Is Todd Gurley?

Get used to the name. He’s Adrian Peterson without the anger issues. He’s the reason why the St. Louis Rams are still in the playoff conversation. He’s the league leader in average yards per game (115). Oh, and by the way, he’s only played in 5 NFL games.

With 8 weeks into the season, we expected the Rams to have a 2–5 record and fall into the NFC West abyss. Instead, Gurley has actually made the Rams relevant and led them to a 4–3 record with a legitimate shot at making the NFC Wild Card. His breakout performance has been tough for us to measure because he’s playing like an Impact Player, but his Madden Rating of 80 falls below the Impact Player cutoff. For now, we’ll have to leave our algorithm the way it is, but he sure is making the Ram’s a fun team to watch (there’s a sentence no one has ever said before).

Standings After Week 8

Who is Blaine Gabbert?

No, he’s not Sunshine from Remember the Titans, and he’s definitely not the solution that will save the 49ers’ season. San Francisco went from bad to worse when they benched Kaepernick for a quarterback with 74 career sacks, 24 career INT’s and 21 career fumbles. Trading away one of their best offensive threats in Vernon Davis didn’t help much either.

Despite all that, the 49er’s actually have a 52% chance of beating the Falcons this week thanks their home field advantage. Let’s hope the Niners Nation has as much faith in Gabbert as that little girl did in the Titans from Remember The Titans (we just finished watching Remember The Titans. Classic.)

Week 9 Predictions

That’s all for us this week. Join us next week to see who’s left standing in Detroit after Martha Ford finishes cleaning house.

Thanks,
