Let’s get to the point

Dear Natives of my adopted home

You are a wonderful group of people. You have embraced me. My wife, a native, and I moved here so we could raise our family here. We like your values.

I am getting used to the cuisine.

Sometimes you consider me brash. I understand that. I smile inside though because where I grew up I was the quiet and meek one.

You can certainly be polite. I believe there is a real term for it. Minnesota Nice.

That is not why I write you though. I like your Minnesota Nice. It’s cute. Cute in that ‘Damn he’s straightforward. I’ll just smile and talk about this later with my friends’.

What I wanted to talk about was this beating around the bush thing. It can get old. See, it’s annoying isn’t it? Was there really a need for the five preceding paragraphs?

Just ask me for what you want or need. If it is my job to get it for you I will be able to get it a lot quicker without having to decipher what you really want.

I am not a mind reader. As the old joke goes — ask my wife.

We moved here for the pace. I was done with the need it yesterday pace of NYC and the “The world is going to end if we don’t get it done right away” pace here is still slower than my old local pizza delivery.

Please, tell me what you need. You may not believe it, but I am happy to help.
