Blog Project #2 and #3

Format: Comic.
Audience: General public; people who read newspapers and comics.
Purpose: To belittle Monsanto’s position on labeling their genetically modified food at grocery stores.
It achieves it’s purpose. The subject of the comic is Monsanto. They don’t want their genetically modified food to be labeled, even though some people want to know if they’re buying GMO food. The comic pokes fun at Monsanto’s opposition to labeling their GMO food. The larger person (Monsanto) squashes a smaller person (representing the consumer) who wants to know what they are buying at the store. This shows how Monsanto does not like people having opposing opinions on labeling their food, in a comedic way.

Format: Infographic.
Audience: General public.
Purpose: To point out some facts and figures about fast food and show how it’s linked to mental health.
The message is pretty effective. It gives statistics showing that alot of americans eat fast food. It lists some ingredients that are in fast food that can affect your mental health, like food coloring and preservatives, that can cause hyperactivity. It also says that fast food’s lack of omega 3 fatty acids can be linked to anxiety, and when combined with refined carbs, can make you confused, tired, and depressed. So, fast food can make you tired, depressed, confused, and anxious, therefore affecting your mental health.
