In 2012, Facebook became a public company in the largest tech IPO in history. Facebook is currently the 6th largest company in the world with a market cap of $359.7B.
The Menlo Park based company acquired Instagram in 2012 for $1B (now estimated to be worth $35 billion) and acquired WhatsApp and Oculus in 2014. Facebook’s mission “is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected”.

In 2015, Facebook topped Business Insider’s list of “The 50 Best Companies To Work For In America”. That year median pay at the company was $135,000.
Besides generous pay, Facebook offers the unique opportunity to work on a product with one billion plus users. As you may know or can gather from Peter’s statement, it is difficult to land a job at Facebook.
