The front office knows that it is going to have to pony up a max deal for Curry, and they would not have renounced Bogut, Speights and Barbosa just to keep Barnes. It is also reasonable to presume that they would’ve made the pitch to Durant anyway, since the players had been courting him for months, and it is not impossible that Durant still would’ve come.
