Ambiverts
Just read an article by another author I follow on this site. It’s by Larry Kim, and the topic was about ambiverts. You can check it out here. https://readthink.com/heres-why-ambiverts-are-more-influential-and-successful-than-extroverts-2e3d5346448d#.jtbvf6ini
I thought the article was well written and insightful.
In case you’re not familiar with the term, an ambivert is an individual who’s not 100% extroverted, and not 100% introverted.
It’s true that it could be argued that all of us are ambiverts in some way, but most people know whether they are energized when they are surrounded by others and external stimulus. As well as there are those who know when they are drained by the constant presence of others, and require quiet time to charge their batteries.
As I stated in a previous entry, I’m an ENTP. Which means I’m an extrovert.
I definitely have times when solitude, or being away from others is needed to collect my thoughts, but I know that without a doubt, too much time in isolation drains my batteries.
The idea that there are those who are essentially energized by solitude and external stimulus is intriguing to me. It makes wonder whether this is actually the optimal state to be in.
I know that I could ultimately benefit from not needing external stimulus to feel energized. Perhaps I’ll make this my project. I think it could only help me become better in the future.
