Two of my favorite cooking comps on TV right now are “Chopped” and “Master Chef”.
“Master Chef” is currently in its 8th season, and this year it’s just as good as ever.
“Chopped” is also been around for awhile, and keeps itself fresh by doing variations on the original idea, like having an “All-Stars” challenge.
These shows are not only entertaining, but also educational. I’ve learned a few things while watching. For example, I generally get a good idea of cooking times, and what techniques are most important for mastery. On the last episode of “Master Chef” when the fire fighter cook, Eric, was eliminated it was due to his lack of knife skills.
Although I’m not the best cook, I definitely enjoy watching these kind of shows. They tend to blend the best of both worlds for me which are food and sport.
