What: in this entry I’m going to present notes, thoughts and experimental results I collected while training multiple StyleGAN models and exploring the learned latent space.

Why: this is a dump of ideas/considerations that can range from the obvious to the “ holy moly”, meant to possibly provide insight — or starting point for discussions — for other people out there with similar interests and intents. As such it can be skimmed through to see if anything is of interest.

I’m also here heavily leveraging Cunningham’s Law.

Who: many considerations apply to both StyleGAN v1 and v2, but all generated results are from v2 models, unless explicitly specified. …

What: this is a collection of tutorials, examples and resources for generating fractals visuals using Blender. I’ll cover topics such as recursion, n-flakes, L-systems, Mandelbrot/Julia sets and derivations.

Why: if you are fascinated by fractals patterns, interested in procedural generation in Blender and want to get a better understanding and hands-on experience of animation-nodes and shader nodes.

Who: all content here is based on Blender 2.8.2 and animation-nodes v2.1. I also relied on a few short code snippets (Python ≥ 3.6).

Quick, Draw! — Flock — Conway’s Game of Life

What: learning the basics of scripting for Blender Grease-Pencil tool, with focus on generative art as a concrete playground. Less talking, more code (commented) and many examples.

Why: mostly because we can. Also because Blender is a very rich ecosystem, and Grease-Pencil in version 2.8 is a powerful and versatile tool. Generative art is a captivating way to showcase the tool potential: if you love Python and don’t feel like learning Processing, or are still unsure about venturing with p5.js or Three.js, here you will find the perfect playground.

Who: Python ≥ 3.6 and Blender 2.8. I took inspiration from other resources on generative art, in particular the book Generative Art by Matt Pearson and the Kadenze online course Generative Art and Computational Creativity. …
