5 Things

1. Jeffrey Epstein

Jeffrey Epstein

Epstein may as well have a stand-in spot on my weekly list. I’m including him this week because August 10th is the three-year anniversary of his “suicide.” Since his “suicide,” all that has resulted from his final arrest is a 20-year prison sentence of co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell. Not a single client has been named. Louder for those in the back.

If you’re unfamiliar with Epstein, the very much so TLDR is;
Epstein, hedge fund manager to the mega-wealthy was (is?) chief instigator of a massive organized pedophile ring. He owned a private island, Little Saint James, where, among other places, nefarious acts including sex trafficking & pedophilia occurred. His private jet, The Lolita Express, shuttled the rich and famous to and from the island and beyond.

Some noteworthy Lolita Express passengers:
-Bill Clinton (a cool 26 trips)
-Prince Andrew (with his alleged 17-year old sex slave Virginia Roberts)
-Bill Gates (a rabbit hole for another time…)
-Alan Dershowitz (US Lawyer who’s a regular media contributor. Oh, and defended OJ & Epstein)
-Les Wexner (Retail mogul. Empire included Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, etc)
-Woody Allen (film director, writer, actor)
The list goes on and on and on…

My mom has this saying..”If it looks like a rat, acts like a rat, smells like a rat, chances are it’s a rat.” Well folks, this list (and all those associated) absolutely reeks to high heaven of rat.
Either this group is guilty OR they’re guilty by association. If they are in fact innocent, shouldn’t they be leading the charge on taking these sick fucks down? imo, they’re all rotted and in a suicide pact with the media and those in power to keep their lips sealed forever.

Okay, I’m officially heated and we’ve only scratched the surface. Here’s some solid resources if you want to join me in being irate forever:

Netflix’s Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich
-HAHA I went to link a documentary on Youtube called Jeffrey Epstein: The Game of the Global Elite but what do you know? Youtube has taken it down. Classic. You can find it here on the Internet Archive.
-r/Epstein on Reddit. Basically a community of ~100k committed to truth-seeking, analyzing/documenting, and continuing the conversation around the twisted web that is Epstein.
There’s a lot more but that’s a good start.

2. Tajin

My late brother put me on this and forever changed the trajectory of my taste buds.
If you’re a fan of sweet & salty collaborating, you’re welcome!

Tajin 101:
-Launched December 23, 1985
-By 2020’s, Tajin is sold in over 30 countries
-Tajin is produced in Zapopan Mexico

Tajin has been producing the same damn good seasoning for 37 years.

You know how salt enhances flavors? I kinda think of Tajin in a similar light — plus some zingy oomf. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of foods to splash some Tajin on next time:
-Bell peppers
-Mangos (during the summertime in NYC, you can find vendors selling cups filled with Mango, lime juice, doused in Tajin. Chefs kiss! don’t pass it up.)
-Ice cream
-Adult bevs
The list goes on and on and on…

You can find Tajin in your local supermarket or Amazon. Pro-tip: throw a mini habanero Tajin in your purse/backpack/etc.

Fruit w Tajin 😛

3. Chinoiserie. Say it with me: “Sheen-wah-zer-ie”

Source: Pinterest

One of my closest girlfriend’s got married recently — it was an absolutely stunning wedding best described as chinoiserie countryside chic (see above picture.)
I’ve seen this pattern and style of china throughout my life but little did I know it had a name!?

According to Wikipedia: From French, Chinoiserie, from chinois, “Chinese” ‘China style’ is the European interpretation and imitation of Chinese and other East Asian artistic traditions.

So there ya go; Chinoiserie. Add it to your trivia rolodex.

4. Fishwife

God, I am OBSESSED with this brand.

The skinny:
-Direct-to-consumer tinned fish company (you read that right. We’re making canned fish sexy, babyyy)
-Two female founders: Caroline Goldfarb & Becca Millstein
-Launched Dec 2020

Why am I so obsessed?
First and foremost; it tastes great… but that’s table stakes. Beyond the flavor, this is a brand with a voice versus a company with a product. They have curated the ultimate fishwife world — everything from illustrative design to creative collaborations to the way in which they interact with their customers. Cliche, but it feels as if you’re stepping into a virtual fishwife store when engaging with them — check out their IG for yourself.

-Collabs (just a few of my favs):

Smoked Salmon with Fly By Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp
Collab with Chell Fish NYC
This recipe collab with Zabs Sauce…

One of my girlfriends and I affectionately gave the name “The Giving Dip” to the above recipe. Whatever you’re looking for, it will give you. it’s truly infallible!!! Pro tip: ADD CAPERS

What we can learn from Fishwife: Own your brand’s industry and have a voice to go along with it. Involve your customers. Acquire new ones by partnering with brand’s whose customers seem synergistic with your brand. Keep it fun and light. The world could use more of that. 💕🎣✨

5. Hand Written Letters / Postcards

Source: Pinterest

It’s the little things!
There’s something so personal, sincere, meaningful, dare I say …sexy about receiving a hand written letter from someone. Chances are it made your day the last time you got a letter, right?

Go make someone’s day: Write a note to a college friend who lives across the country, your long distance bf/gf, a grandparent, colleague, your parents… just because.
Here’s a Pinterest board dedicated to everything post/stationary for some inspo.

This reminds me. A couple years back I sent babymail™️ to bunch of family and friends. What’s babymail™️ you ask? Basically I took blank business cards and micro-envelopes and put all my faith in USPS that my micro mail would reach it’s intended home. Added bonus that the literal postage stamp size real estate of the card makes for a short note — not much thought needs to go into it.

That’s all folks. Happy rabbit-holing!
