Why I’m a Christian (And Continue to Suck at Being One)
Benjamin Sledge

Excellent and timely post; I needed to find and read this… especially after this past year of feeling so disconnected and frustrated at lock-step “Christians”. Man is flawed and always will be, and I am man.

Many of your statements reminded me of two passages that stay with me, always.

“ Seeing Gandhi live, the Christian missionary E. Stanley Jones asked him: “Mr Gandhi, though you quote the words of Christ often, why is it that you appear to so adamantly reject becoming his follower (Christian)”? The latter’s reply was clear: “Oh, I don’t reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It is just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ”.”

and my go-to Scripture passage Mark 12:29–31 The Greatest Commandments

“ 29 Jesus answered, “The foremost is, Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; 30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

A single golf clap? Or a long standing ovation?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
