Tsardom Of Russia — Peter the Great, Part 1

At the end of Our Last Chapter we talked about the trails and tribulations of Ivan the Terrible and the end of his dynasty the Rurik Dynasty. Following this abrupt end of the dynasty a 15 year struggle for the throne ensued in which the dynasty to take hold after was decided to be the Romanov’s.

Michael Romanov The first ruler of the Romanov Dynasty appointed by Russian Parliament member Zemsky Sobor began transforming the country into a Powerhouse via a series of Reforms and Wars. Through these Series of Wars with most notably the Ottoman Empire, and the Sweden Empire Russia’s territory expanded in which it became the dominant power from the Baltic to the Black Sea.

Peter later realized he couldn’t face Russian alone so in 1697 he started his 18 month long Journey in Western Europe to find Aid in his war with the Ottoman Empire. Later on in his Journey the May of Amsterdam, Nicolaes Witsen came up with the Idea of Sending the Tsar to get First hand Experience with ship building. Sending the Tsar under the Dutch East India Company the Tsar was able to learn much about Ship building, in which he came back to his Country and put his new found knowledge of Ship building to use, helping to Create Russia’s Navy.
