Reading this blows me away because it deals with a lot of the same themes as the thesis project I am working on now. My goal to help others open their hearts to compassion and forgiveness for themselves and others by seeing their own personal suffering as part of a larger suffering. The current title for it is even “Catharsis”.

On another note, my heart aches that you seem to give so much love to others without feeling you deserve it yourself. You are not responsible for the expectations of others. You deserve to be free, just as the strangers you meet deserve it. I’m so glad you found work that gives you joy.
You have such a powerful voice and purpose that I hope you one day find the courage to share it with your parents. They are proud of you, their only daughter, not the lawyer that works in that building they took a picture in front of.
As a parent, I can only imagine that if you tell them they will feel more hurt and disappointed by the fact you didn’t feel you could show them who you were, than by changing careers. You spoke about how hard they worked as you grew up. Don’t they deserve to see their daughter doing something she is great at, feels incredible passion for, and makes her happy?
