Want to loose weight without hitting a gym? Just develop these 3 habits…

I am a fitness freak. Many of my friends and relatives ask me, how I manage to maintain my weight while being so energetic without hitting the gym.
Here are my 3 secrets/habits to share:
For each of the secrets, self-discipline plays an important role. Without self- discipline you can’t achieve anything.
1. Food
2. Walking
3. Yoga & Meditation
Food:
I enjoy all sorts of food including junk food. I never visited a dietician for advice.
You can enjoy all sorts of food available in the universe. But you should have will power to control the quantity. This is the main and the most important quality to lose or gain weight.
Don’t skip any meal.
Breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. Whenever you eat your meal, don’t eat till you feel stuffed. Fill half of your stomach with food, next quarter fill with water. That’s it. Stop there.
In the beginning you will start craving for food within an hour or so. Divert your attention towards some other work/activity. Slowly your system will get used to this habit.
Have a fixed time for every meal.
Breakfast: 8:00 AM
Lunch: 12:30–1:00 P.M
Evening Snacks: 4:00 P.M
Dinner: 7:30–8:00 P.M
Your food consumption should be based on your daily activities.
You can have mid-morning munchies. Make sure you consume less. If you feel hungry around 11 A.M, you can have nuts or fruits or even chips, anything certainly not a whole burger. Whenever you eat in between your meal, think or remember about your meal time automatically you will consume less. You should be hungry before your meal.
Walking: I walk daily from 5:00–5:45 A.M. with Gayathri Mantra Chant (108 times).
Daily 45 minutes brisk walking (preferably in the morning) will make you be fit and energetic.
Keep this as a daily routine irrespective of weekends and holidays.
During your walk, you can plan your daily chores and your day’s tasks.
You can chant any shloka.
Yoga & Meditation: I practice Yoga with meditation at least for an hour.
I strongly recommend every person to practice yoga and meditation.
This will certainly improve your power of concentration and keep your body fit and flexible. You don’t have to become an expert in Yoga. Just learn asana and spend at least an hour to practice.
You need to give minimum 2 to 5 minutes for each asana to have the impact. Even 3–4 asanas per day will be sufficient.
Asana will make your joints free and your body becomes flexible and you will feel energetic for the entire day.
It may be difficult in the beginning. In the beginning you can do each asana for 30–60 seconds. Slowly your body loosens up and you will automatically increase your count for 3–5 minutes.
You will enjoy every session of Yoga. (Don’t start Yoga on your own by watching T.V. or from any site. Get trained by a yoga teacher.
Most important is not to give up Yoga once you start. Have will power to continue.
Meditation keeps you calm and composed. Sit straight during meditation. It keeps your spine and back strong. You can complete along with your yoga session. For meditation, concentrate on any one of the following:
1. Scan through your body head to toe (This is much easier way for the beginners)
2. Visualize an idol
3. Follow your breath
4. Focus on your heart beat
5. Just chant “OM” and visualize the word.
During meditation, many thoughts will pass through. It’s ok. Start practicing meditation for 5 minutes. Slowly increase the duration every week.
You can enjoy your friend’s party. Make it a point that you don’t delay your routine bed time.
Follow a disciplined lifestyle, enjoy every phase of your life with fitness and complete mental alert.
These 3 habits will make you progress in your career too.
