Along with the Industrial Revolution, Asian style and emerging modernist ideas also influenced Mackintosh’s designs.Mackintosh developed his own style: a contrast between strong right angles and floral-inspired decorative motifs with subtle curves, for example the Mackintosh Rose motif, along with some references to traditional Scottish architecture.So the work is white and concise. Snuff bottles are of various styles. The appearance of his from extremely expensive gold boxesdecorated with precious stones to cheapversions made of wood.By the time Charles II was reigning in the mid-17th century, inhaling snuff was popular even among women. In the early 18th century the nobility began favouring the use of snuff.Craftsmen were sometimes decorated with hand-painted landscapes, portraits, or cameos. The most distinctive snuff boxes were set with fine jewels and engraved or enamelled.
