Preparing for Winter Cold

It was Wednesday when I first heard about the huge winter storm hitting the east late tonight. I cracked a joke about it to Cora as I was working on a drawing. “You can’t be serious?” It was the first she had heard of it. Thinking back on the last big snowstorm that hit NYC over FWT I am happy to say that I learned my lessons last year. Last year I scoffed at the idea of snow shutting down the city. It had snowed multiple times before and I did not think much more from a “storm” was going to do much more. I left work at my usual time, not considering the effect the snow might have on the subway. I was on the J when service for it stopped. I got out and walked over to the A train, figuring it would have better service as it is an underground line. That’s when things began to get really bad. I got lost in the snow and it took me half an hour to find the station. I got home to run out of laundry and groceries over the weekend, subsisting on pop tarts as I watched snow ploughs move by. This year I made sure that I was stocked up on all the essentials throughout the week, making multiple trips for groceries, and I got all my laundry finished and some good entertainment in my Netflix que. I have learned my snowstorm lessons and am ready to be holed up through whatever comes.
