As autonomous vehicles are increasingly expected to be offered as a service rather than as a product, is the uncertainty around how they should weigh the lives of passengers against bystanders’ becoming less relevant? It’s easier to accept that a service should minimize death tolls than to support a product that could purposefully kill its owner.
