Go down to the sand
To watch the waves break
To taste the salt on your tongue
To listen to the constant crashing
Let it soothe your whirring mind.
Drag your tired cracked feet lazily
Through the sun-baked sand.
Feel the warmth.
Now is the time to forget your past.
Present.
Future.
Now is the time to forget your name.
What it means.
What you’ve seen.
Where you’ve been.
Go down to the local bonfire
Where all the lonely hearts gather
Because it’s better than drinking alone.
To watch the flames lick
And grasp at the wood.
To watch the sparks try and escape
To fly away
But they burn out
Fade out
Gone.
Now is the time to forget the pressures, forget the ideals
that are thrust upon us
Because.
Because we are alive
We are young
And we want to feel beautiful.
