I analyze the Trump presidency, then share the essays 90 days later, like a time capsule.
The minor rally Trump is seeing at Gallup is real. From his low of 38%, he has gone up 4 days in a row and is now at 42%. During the same time, he’s gone from a disapproval high of 56% to today, where he’s at 53%.
Trump had a good day yesterday. Not politically, necessarily, but personally. He got to go to Mar-a-Lago. SNL was a re-run. He did a rally to 9000 very excited fans. This comes on the heels of his press conference, that he believed went really well.
Last night Trump called the media the enemy of the people. Of course, this isn’t new. He constantly attacks the media. At his rallies, people boo them. Every chance he gets, he says “dishonest media” and “fake news.” Bannon calls the media the opposition, simultaneously insulting the fight…
Yesterday my spidey-sense felt like Trump might be turning a corner. But that’s the problem with gut feelings. They’re hard to pin down and analyze. Yet we trust them implicitly because we think our subconscious is better at cutting through the noise.
Ok. So a new WaPo report says that Trump administration officials were in frequent contact with the Russians throughout the campaign. Which is not, by itself, illegal. If they were talking about Pokemon or reruns of Friends. But if they were working to influence the election, that’s different.
