#2: The Library of Manchester
On Saturday Sabrina and me went to Manchester to get in contact with the city. One impressive building we saw was the library of Manchester. It seams to be very old but very cared.
When we entered the building Sabrina and me were taking a short rest in two wing chairs besides the entry in the hall. We looked at the ceiling of the hall and were attired in the old arms on it. Over the main-entrance was a window with lead glazing on which you could see Shakespeare in the middle and illustrations of his famous stories around him.
The library looked traditional and modern at the same time: The old building and its architecture as well as a lot of modern facility and computers were standing around.
The people of Manchester were using their library for different reasons: Reading and studying, looking at or borrowing books, DVDs or audio, using one of the computers or the free Wi-Fi, which seems to be very popular in the UK.
On the first floor we entered the dome. Here you can find a picture of it. Many books were stored in shelves along the wall. Long rows of tables were standing radially to the middle of the room.
BTW: I really like the website of the city or rather of the library.
