Dirt overlay is the process of injecting fiberglass material over an automobile's existing paint job to create a new "overlay" which resembles the older finish however provides superior protection from road debris, fading and weathering. It is a favorite way of recovery projects, as it needs little maintenance and provides superior protection from damage. However, imagine if your car simply needs a easy wash? A plastic sheet laid over the car's surface until starting will help protect the plastic and metal components of your automobile from dirt and dust that might otherwise break through the paint. For extra measure, seal the plastic covering with a sheet of duct tape. Seal the tape and apply a thin layer of clear lacquer.
