Supporting Earl — PKD Awareness

Many of you know Earl Hopkins, one of our Business Development Regional Managers. What you may not know is that he is on a mission to raise awareness about Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a genetic disease that’s impacted him and his family. Earl is now in the early stages of looking for a kidney donor.

On April 1, Earl and his team attended the PKD Awareness Walk in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not only was Earl supported by his community but the team raised over double their goal, coming in at $1,209 raised in just 6 days!!

“The goal here is to not only raise awareness of PKD and money to support finding a cure, but also to end the stigma surrounding the disease,” said Hopkins. “I deal with the stigma of addiction every day and I have handled that. Genetic diseases bring their own stigma with them and we need to push back against that.”

“Earl has been saving lives in the addiction realm for years,” said David Marlon, CEO of Solutions Recovery. “This man has been the light for so many lives by helping them into treatment. It is now time for us to show our support for him and his life. We are proud to be a part of his mission.”

Polycystic kidney disease is a life-threatening genetic disease that strikes both adults and children. It often leads to the need for dialysis and a kidney transplant. It affects thousands in America and millions worldwide, who are in urgent need of treatments and a cure.
