Is it really that fast?
Do you have an inner skeptic? The stories we tell ourselves are so powerful. Today was day 3 of my challenge and amazing things are happening.
Today’s goal:
3 min fast jog then 3 reps of a variety of body-weight exercises (no equipment, no gym, sometimes a dog)
Before:
Had a great day all around. Work went well. Home went well. No complaints. My mental messages about home were consistently positive and solution focused. I ate well, drank a lot of water, and moved around a lot. My work experience was largely the same. Great day!
After:
Even better. I’m feeling the nice physical feeling of a little soreness, it has been a while since I completed a fast run for three straight minutes! Positive attitude and highly relaxed.
Background:
This all started with a decision to be more positive at home. I was perpetuating significant negativity in two important areas. One centered around money and the other my closest relationship. The negativity was a mixture of complicated emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that were all a cover-up. Once I discovered this, I thought that addressing the relationship piece would help with absolutely everything else. I began to implement a variety of strategies to replace negative habits. I use exercise as the physical aspect that reminds me to stay positive by getting out of my work and home routines.
Results:
I paired my exercise routine with a decision to write and practice several other positive experiences with my wife and family. In addition, I committed to finding some creative ways to bring in more income. The results after three days of intentional work at letting go of the negative stories in my head and replacing them with positive mental alternatives and physical exercise are amazing!
I physically feel better. Far less stomach ache. More energy overall. Better posture. I am more focused and alert. I feel so much more connected to my wife and kids. The conversations have been easier, reciprocal and more frequent. I see and feel less tension in everyone in the family. And to my surprise, I’ve already had two requests today to discuss the extra income I’ve for which I’ve been looking.
The point is, when we take the time and effort to get real with ourselves and to let go of the negative stories about ourselves that we replay in our heads, our world opens up. We see opportunity, we see positive, we see connection, we see love. Combine that with action we have a sure recipe for success. I’m making the choice to see it that way.
What do you do to stay positive and connected?
If you are interested in how I’ve gotten to this place, feel free to message me.
With gratitude,
Aaron
