Being a smarmy asshole isn't helping your case at all. And no, there’s nothing intellectual about any of this, no matter what you or any of your buddies think. You’re no intellectual either. No one cares if you were published in Salon or if you want to turn this into your high school debate club.

It’s simple: you’re part of a group that wants to be valorized for not molesting children (for now, let’s ignore whether or not you actually live up to those claims, because that’s an entirely different conversation). It’s the equivalent of forming an organization for people who say they should be recognized for the oh-so courageous act of not being murderers or rapists in spite of their self-professed overwhelming desire to commit those crimes. You’re not suddenly heroes or saints for (allegedly) meeting the one of the most basic standards for not being human garbage. That’s just not how things work.

Comparing yourselves — a group of people who want to fuck children — to persecuted minorities is absolutely heinous and you’re delusional if you think enough people will ever buy into it for pedophiles to be socially accepted because “they can’t help it.” If anything, that argument makes your whole “cause” suspect because you’re effectively saying that society should and will eventually accept your desires. If that’s the “intellectual” argument you want to make, you might as well drop the act and change your “virtuous” organization’s name to NAMBLA.

Another thing, intentional subversion in no way implies being a doormat for any asshole with a controversial view. Being edgy or controversial doesn't automatically validate your views. An open mind isn't a leaky or empty one. The fact that alto was even willing to give Justin Forest a chance before closely examining his claims and finding them lacking in substance shows that he was willing to consider a viewpoint that most people would have dismissed offhand. Ironically enough, in pitching a fit against what was already a level of open-mindedness above and beyond anything that would be expected of the average person, you’re acting like a child. Which is disgusting in the context of your self-admitted proclivities.
