KNPC Delegation Explores CNG Project in Abu Dhabi

As part of its priority to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in the distribution of compressed natural gas (CNG) with other GCC countries, ADNOC Distribution received a delegation from Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). The visit aimed to further explore areas of cooperation in strengthening ADNOC Distribution’s pioneering project of providing vehicles with natural gas that was introduced in 2005 as part of the company’s efforts to promote clean and sustainable energy.

The day kicked off with a brief overview of ADNOC Distribution’s structure,
and its decades-long successful track record in the marketing and distribution of petroleum products, jet fuel and natural gas, as well as the conversion
of conventional vehicles to those run on natural gas. The introductory talk also highlighted the company’s active role in setting up a natural gas supply network across Abu Dhabi’s residential, industrial, and commercial areas.

Furthermore, ADNOC Distribution’s officials outlined the company’s natural gas marketing strategy, based on strengthening collaboration with other government and private entities across the country. Using the statistics and figures of the Natural Gas Division, they demonstrated the economic feasibility and eco-friendliness of natural gas for public transportation. To date, ADNOC Distribution’s NGV conversion centres have converted more than 5,570 vehicles to natural gas, and its natural gas network currently supplies over 2,286 residences and 94 corporate clients. In addition, the number of ADNOC Distribution facilities that offer NGV has increased to 21 stations and three NGV conversion centres.

The delegation also toured Rabdan and Khalifa A service stations in Abu Dhabi to learn more about the NGV project, NGV conversion centres and other available services in the clean energy domain.
