President Trump’s Proposed Budget
On Thursday, President Donald Trump released a budget proposal that would realign government spending along his priorities.
The proposal is a starting point for the federal budget process, but it nonetheless suggests major changes to government spending on the military, homeland security, environmental protection and foreign aid.
- The Washington Post, in a series of infographics, laid out not only which agencies would see spending cuts and which would see their budgets swell, but also put the discretionary spending decisions in context by comparing them to the federal government’s full funding requirements.
- Business Insider, meanwhile, looked at the proposal in similar terms, spelling out the winners and losers in President Trump’s first budget.
- In its own series of charts, Bloomberg visualized the 80 federal programs that would lose funding under the president’s budget.
