But that stuff TFA kept the same, up to and including reusing iconic foley sequences. (It didn’t just sound like the original, some of the sounds were the same sounds.) What TFA changed: it adopted writing tropes of the modern era, which were boring before we realized they were tropes, and repudiated the original story. A successful reboot would parallel the original, not destroy it.
