As a way to introduce you to members of our local Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices team, we’ve developed this ongoing Q&A series for our blog. We think you’ll enjoy learning more about our team of real estate professionals and their experience. This week, we’re starting with Bob Kennedy, owner and broker for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Home Team Realty.

How long have you been in the real estate business?: I started in real estate in 1981. Interest rates were near 20 percent! Single digit interest rates were incomprehensible at that time. For the 14 years, most of work was in the commercial real estate world in northern New Jersey. I started with on site residential sales in the early 90’s after moving to Ocala.

What is your real estate specialty: From leasing office space to selling industrial buildings, investment properties, to residential, there isn’t much I haven’t been a party to.

What is your favorite part about working in the real estate industry? The relationships you develop with your buyers and sellers are the best part of this business. For a period of time, you are deeply involved in their lives, learning about their families on a personal level. That shows you have earned their trust.

What is your most memorable moment with a customer? There are too many stories to choose from, but they run the gamut from the total joy of a first time home buyer to tears from sellers who had to sell, (relocating, health, etc). Every sale is unique and has an emotional component.

Do you use social media as part of your work and if so, which platform or platforms do you use? Yes, I think social media is a must for today’s real estate industry. I’d love to connect with local residents on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
