Two Sides of The Same Coin — A Look at Life.

Think of life as a coin. Our perspectives are the opposite faces. Both looking out differently. One looks up to the sky, the other looks to the ground.

Yin and yang.

Empathy, is being able to see that both sides of the coin are right, but different.

And they can both be wrong too.

Because right and wrong are only perspectives.

Empathy exists because you can feel what the other side of the coin feels, because you’re one and the same thing. At a base level, you are one. It’s when we get to the details that we see the coin’s sides have intricate differences.

When we spend our time and efforts challenging ourselves to master the art of observation, we see that foundationally, it’s the coin that ‘matters’.

But there’s something gratifying in studying face of a copper coin with your thumb. The ridges, the bumps, the polished sheen on the Queen’s nose. And the coin wouldn’t be a coin without those two opposing sides.

That’s how I see life. As a coin. Except it’s some manic, multi-dimensional, triple decahedron faced coin. And we’re all looking to find our face on the ginormous monstrosity.

And that sounds a bit gloom and doom but it doesn’t have to be.

Not if your face is looking towards the sun.
