I think it’s impossible to argue that GG wasn’t successful. The whole point was just to push out the entryists in the gaming community who cared a whole lot about neoprogressive politics and not very much about video games or the gaming community, and basically hated gamers themselves.
After the whole shitstorm, most normal people are sick of the culture wars and just want to talk about video games and leave politics out of it… which is what GG wanted all along. A lot of the antiGG writers have stopped writing about games. As far as I can tell the “Twine revolution” and that whole genre of terrible progressive non-game is dead. PewDiePie coming out as a shitlord basically puts the nail in the coffin.
