I’m really getting sick of this ridiculous assertion that “liberals” are all living in an echo chamber while “conservatives” are Real Americans whose beliefs are more valid; that the people who live in the parts of the country with the most cultural, ethnic, religious, and financial diversity are somehow the ones in a bubble.

If anything, we should look to the fact that areas like New York City contain a multitude of diversity but share a belief that all should be welcome as inspirational. Why should someone from NYC who lives a perfectly happy life with neighboors of various faiths and backgrounds have to validate the opinion of a conservative fro Idaho (not to pick on Idaho, just a random state) who’s never met a Muslim before? Who really needs to vary their perspective here?
