Alarm Clock – 11:30 pm: Addiction
Tales of ordinary awakening.
Addiction is not just a non-animated element. It’s not just smoke, booze or drugs. Addiction can take the shape of a person, especially one who repels you while you, in your delirious craving for her, are ready to jump and plunge on command whenever the person snaps her fingers. You know it’s not healthy and it’s humiliating, but you’re so reliant on her that you are blind to good sense.
I am in love with the body of one of my colleagues. And I mean the body alone. Her character and spirits have nothing to do with me, we could never work as a couple, not in a million years, but I’m so craving for her that I obey as a slave anytime she gives me directions on what to do. She’s got a stark attitude, and with the perfection of her body, that would make of her a good dominatrix.
I asked her out twice last year and she refused, preferring two other colleagues, at different moments of the season. I wooed her for a long time and she enjoyed that, but she went out with the other guys who, instead of wooing her, gave her a lift with their car.
My slave-like attitude is humiliating and even if I see that, for the time I work with her I look like her parasite, I’m not able to break that spell. I’m not able to wake up.
«You are a gentleman. You deserve a lot more.» a younger colleague told me.
«You’re right. But I’m sick.»
«Then you’re screwed.»
*Alarm Clock is a 30-part series of tales of self-awareness and awakening. Sometimes we are blind to our inner power that we need a third eye to watch over us. And a voice to bring us back to reality, before it’s too late.
