Tips for Backing Up Your Writing

I did lost a short story this way and have been mourning over it for weeks. Back then I was still using a quite old computer and didn’t have an internet access and I accidentally deleted it. My uncle told me the only way was to disassemble the computer and track back the file somewhere therein. I simply wrote another piece of non-fiction where I talked about the lost one, in some sort of attempt to replace the old one and feel less nostalgia. But everything happens for a reason.
