pomorskie.travel — interactive content in public space

Interactive System of Tourist Information

Interactive System of Tourist Information is comprised of five computer subsystems operating within the brand pomorskie.travel. The most innovative element of this project is the mapping system of ISIT open to the public space. The mapping system is an interactive and detailed map of the Pomorskie region which is being centrally managed, and updated according to the location of each carrier.

The system offers various functional options ( i.e. interactive points with its descriptions on the map, photo galleries, films, panoramic 360 degrees views, access to flight timetables, and tricity railway system, access to trails, and tourist products, tourist information available in a QR code form right on one’s mobile, all information available in six different languages).

The dynamic increase in the tourist movement in Poland contributed to the idea of creating modern interactive network concept of tourist information for the Pomorskie Voivodeship. An interactive network that is compatible with global standards of exchange of information and facilities that the modern technology offers. The designed solution has a conceptual character — its main idea has been providing information to public space. The feature is not active at this stage of development of the project however, the network is gradually developing to achieve this.

ISIT or the Interactive System of Tourist Information as part of the initiative pomorskie.travel is the biggest and the most advanced network of tourist information in Poland and in Europe. A network that uses the interactive technology of digital signage in public space. The network is a genuine breakthrough due to a unique combination of knowledge and information from various branches of economy ( i.e. ICT , marketing, electronics) and unique competences of many people and work groups engaged in this project.

A network of electronic displays/info-kiosks City Panels includes
245 screens: 170 internal 42- inch screens, and 75 external 46-inch screens. The system uses touch technology to communicate with the users of Pomorskie services.

In the future the system will be made compatible with similar systems such as communicative, integrators of Smart Cities, mapping systems, and mobile solutions within the convergent space.
