“I find fascinating the idea of transforming a concept into a luxury piece, the whole process is beautiful, I suppose its like creating art or music…you can either follow trends or create something totally new and exciting”

What is your current role? Head Designer @ Ana Capeleiro

What inspires you to create? Anything, from art, music to cinema…but specially while traveling and exploring the energies and fashion trends in each different city of Europe.

How would describe your style of design? Fun, Flattering, Funky, Unique. What do you think your design brings of new/original to the world? In terms of pattern cutting i like exploring new shapes applying many times geometric forms and experimenting deconstructing and reconstructing something new. I also try to communicate issues of the present times by creating pieces that are sustainable by re-using fabric from previous collections and adding something new to make them interesting. As we all are aware now, the price of fabric dying is too high as all chemicals a are thrown into the sea, being a major contribution to environmental issues… so i work towards creating awareness and showcasing my clients and other designers that is still possible to create something unique by up cycling.

Who do you design for? Musicians, Actors, Dancers, Stage Performers for Festivals around the world, Fitness instructors, etc

Have you ever worked on a collaborative project before? Yes.

Do you think collaborative design can be the future for fashion? It depends on the project, collaborative projects can be positive when it is a team work and all think alike, otherwise i wouldn’t advise a designer to get into projects where they are not willing to compromise and try something new.

On your opinion what makes a product desirable? The Unique Design, the fit, the quality of fabrics, durability, versatility, etc

Who is your favourite designer or brand? I have so many, but i can say High End Designers like Louis de Gama, Peter Piloto, Chloe, etc.

Can you afford to purchase items from them? Sometimes, if i find a good designer sample sales event, then you can really find some gems at a very affordable prices. If not, where do you alternatively buy your clothes from? i do not buy very often as i prime for quality and prefer to wait to buy something that will last me a decade, also there are some items i produce, that i wear myself, not only to promote but because i love my product too.

If you could be involved on the design of a piece of clothing or a collection from the past, what would it be? It would be surely the flirty floral dress from the 70’s. A beautiful printed bell-sleeved Ossie Clark dress. The shape is charming, i love it.

What music are you listening to now? Blok Avenue — Saint German Cafe , i am really into music that is dynamic and offer blends of Jazz…my favorite genre to work.

Please share with us an artist or a piece of art that inspires you. Why does it inspire you? Kazimir Malevich (Russian Artist). Because he was one of the earliest and most radical pioneers in abstract art, calling it Suprematism. He really believed that the art would be superior to all the art of the past, and that it would lead to the “supremacy of pure feeling or perception in the pictorial arts”. The reason why he inspires me is because his work was characterized by basic geometric forms, such as circles, squares, lines and rectangles, painted in a limited range of colours. I work mainly with Black but also use and explore textures, contrasting colors and love using geometric forms on my clothing. It makes the pieces very unique.

If you were given a choice of having only one colour to use for the rest of your life, what colour would it be? Black. Because is one of my favorite and basic colour selections for my collections. you can never go wrong by wearing Back.

Please share a film you could watch over and over again? The Cell with Jennifer Lopez as part of the cast
