Mongoose…finally

So we’ve been in MongoDB for awhile now, but without Mongoose. We are finally using Mongoose, which makes things so much easier! I’m enjoying back-end more than I thought I would, but I think I still prefer front-end. I am still in the early stages of learning React, but I think that will be my favorite part of coding to date when I really get into it.

There’s not a ton to write about right now. Things have been really busy with learning, job-searching, interviews, etc. I went to a React Meetup tonight and heard a couple of great talks and met a lot of great people. The Iron Yard was definitely representing at the Meetup! The first talk was about shipping your components without styling so they can be more reusable. The second was about building mobile apps with React Native. I certainly am not at a place yet to comfortable implement these ideas, but I definitely gained something from it, and am looking forward to using these practices as I learn React.

I hope to get back to blogging daily. Our projects have been of a much larger scale recently, so they have taken more time to complete. I’m looking forward to building more apps/projects with databases.

I am a React developer in Dallas, with a few back-end skills as well (Node, Express, Mongo or Postgres). You can check out my work at www.chappelldesigns.com.
