We’re so excited!

As Peace Day draws closer, our activities are amping up and we couldn’t be happier!

The official count down is 27 days to Peace Day, but we are already well under way with our activities this year.

Boss and Founder Sue DiCicco is already on her way across the USA, folding peace cranes as a part of her book tour for recently released Origami Peace Cranes — Friendships Take Flight’. Each of the schools (more than 40 in the next 6 weeks!) that Sue visits will fold cranes together, and exchange their creations with partners from all over the world including Russia, Cambodia, Mexico and Iraq. This connects kids and spreads the message internationally in a way like no other.

We have book tour events from now until late September and we are so grateful for all the schools and groups who will be joining us as part of this. See what we’re up to here.

Next, we are finalizing our trip details for events on and around Peace Day , on September 21st. Sue will be joined by Director, Sarah Cowley and our amazing intern Dafne Calderón. This team of three will travel to New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia and Chicago to represent and raise awareness of the Peace Crane Project and fold cranes with participants at national events. We couldn’t be more happy to be doing this together because, up until now, we’ve made the project work remotely from three different countries! Not to mention our team of volunteers who are spread across more than ten countries❤

September 15th is our big day: We are presenting our beloved Peace Crane Project at the United Nations annual International Day of Peace celebration at their headquarters in New York. This is the place of the General Assembly, where countries meet to discuss, debate and decide on global policies and outcomes. We are absolutely honored to receive this recognition and to speak to the group of 500 young leaders who will be attending this international Peace Day Event. This is a milestone for us, it represents growth and acknowledgement of our project and how it is making a global impact, particularly to those in some of the world’s most vulnerable situations.

Of course, we have to acknowledge our amazing team of volunteers who are strengthening the Peace Crane Project across the globe. Between this team of 14 amazing humans, the message of peace is getting to children in Europe, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Africa, Middle East and North Africa, USA, Central and South America. Our goal is to include everyone in this project — no matter where you are from, what your background is, how old you are, your faith, gender, ideologies..

This is an inclusive project because, at the end of the day, the message of Peace is universal.
