Speaking out against Jerry Fallwell Jr and other “Christian” Trump supporters

Today I stand even more firmly in the corner of my Lord Jesus Christ, however I now realize that this also makes me an enemy of many of those who claim to be believers in the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I work as an adjunct instructor at Liberty University and I use the income to pay for my wife to go back to school. As such, please note that I am writing this post at significant personal risk.

Before I really get started here, I must note am a sinner. I fall victim to greed, conceit, and other songs of the devil on a regular basis. I am an imperfect human, which simply means I am human. However, I truly strive to become more like Christ every day, and I pray for forgiveness for my many sins. I don’t look down upon those who don’t know Jesus, but I do seek to hold accountable myself and others who do know Him. In fact, I appreciate those men and women that hold me accountable.

As this falls in line with the way I would like to be treated, I will do my best to treat the President of Liberty University with more love and respect than he treats his students, faculty, and fellow Americans. Jerry Falwell Jr as the President of Liberty University is a leader in the Christian community, whether he deserves to be or not. As such, he is an outright failure.

Without getting into other points, I will focus solely on Jerry Falwell Jr’s support of Donald Trump for President of the United States of America. This act alone should disqualify Mr. Falwell to lead a Christian university. This is compounded by his use of his position to force Liberty University students to attend a Trump rally. The fact this ploy failed to convince most LU students to support Trump, is beside the point. Mr. Falwell has used his position to push a fascist anti-Christian for President of the United States, and he is no longer suitable for the role.

Donald Trump is a preacher of a false gospel, one that leads Christians into sin. Mr. Trump claims to be a Christian, yet he speaks of never asking for forgiveness and he asks his supporters to worship him like a god. The Word of God speaks directly against Mr Trump and his false testimony. Thus, no Christian leader can support him, without willfully defying the will of God. One who does not fear God and actively promotes sin while claiming to follow Christ is not worthy of a Christian leader’s support.

I call on Mr. Falwell to resign as president of Liberty University, as he has shown a tremendous lack of judgement and has led other Christians towards a false gospel. If we are to win more people to Christ, the Church must unite against bigotry, greed, and hate. Christ’s love must shine in our actions, lest our methods be in contradiction with our message. I ask other students, faculty, and alumni to join the movement to ask Jerry Falwell Jr to step down as president of Liberty University.
