My heart is overcome by change
(that never came)
and I forget to close the circle of hope
because in those eyes alone
there are many colonies of motion.
There are mornings when I am a star running towards a cracked sky
there are dawns breaking simultaneously
on the horizon of travelers unafraid to dance alone.
Long nights of dreaming can unfold you
to the odd and the eccentric where you recognize
the familiar voices of happiness.
As though survival
were a word splashed from a vagrant’s tears
there are moments that grace the sleepless, forbidding, rigid, trouble
with our state…
And the coming of ageless eyes
remind me that I will keep you safer than a promise
burning a hole in your pocket
sewn by the force of scripture and guardians.
I will keep you safer than a promise
burning a hole in your pocket,
not by choice…
But by pleasure
In the name of those who have nothing
but hunger for everything.
