The Power of Coconut Oil

Fall is upon us , the season is changing , the rains are frequent and so are breakouts.How to take care of your skin?How to avoid splurging on fancy cosmetic face washes, scrubs, chemical peels whats have you.One answer try to be as close to nature and let it take care of you.Feed your skin what you feed yourself and you would never have a bad day.If you were to ask me to summarize this post in a line I would say “use cold pressed virgin coconut oil,period”.So I recently adopted virgin coconut oil and so far have been very happy with the results.Coconut oil is great for skin, hair and almost every organ of your body.I would recommend you to compliment it with a few essential and carrier oil to which I will get to shortly.
Coconut oil for Skin and Hair
Skin is the largest organ of our body.Our skin reflects the health of our internal system.You can’t have good skin with a bad gut.So before trying to fix your skin on the outside make sure you fix your body on the inside.Plenty of probiotics and fermented foods go a long way in fixing this.Check out my recipes for german sauerkraut, kimchi and sour curd on my food blog spiceyandsavory.com. Don’t worry I will put a link down below for you to learn more about these simple homemade skin elixirs.Also try to incorporate dry fruits like walnuts,pumpkin seeds,berries and dates.Dry fruits are packed with energy and vitamins.An easy way for your body to get all of these would be to either have them at breakfast, add it to a homemade energy bar or smoothies.Now that we have taken care of the inside lets take care of the outside.
Add coconut oil as a daily body moisturizer.Coconut oil moisturizes the skin, prevents ingrowth and also removes dark spots or blemishes. Supplement your coconut oil with some tea-tree oil to fight infections.Add in grapeseed oil and almond oil when using it on your face.Boil some fresh curry leaves in coconut oil and make a great hair tonic.Infuse nigella seeds and fenugreek for the ultimate conditioner. Coconut oil for Diet
Try raw tender coconut water as as afternoon drink.Trust me its perfect for the 3pm crash.Replace coconut water for coffee and you would notice the difference.Not only is coconut water a perfect hydrant its also packed with lots of vitamins and minerals.Add coconut milk to your cereal or smoothie and enjoy the richness of coconut with every bite.Add desiccated coconut to your desserts for more flavor.Add in roasted coconut to curries and stir frys for an earthy rich aroma.Coconut oil goes really well with chocolate, hop on to my food blog to test drive some coconut recipes.
