PROJECT1B: MY FILM AND GASPER NOES ENTER THE VOID

My film:

Enter the Void:

Gasper Noe’s film ‘Enter the Void’ made in 2010 mainly explores the theme of point of view(POV), which basically shows the character and life of the staring actor from a first person camera angle through out most of the film. Throughout the film the protagonists life evolves around partying and drugs in the city night life of Japan. The techniques used by the producer creates a stronger connection with the viewers as they have a first person shot of this protagonists life which allows a stronger spread of emotion as well as allowing the audience to be apart of the mans life. In contrast with Noe’s film I attempted to re-create the used techniques of the city nightlife and first person/POV in my short one minute clip that I recorded which revolves around ‘Point of View’. In my clip I show a Day in the life of a student (recorded in fragments) from a first person view which previews parts of my day and night in the city as well as the train ride. A sense of emotion was created throughout the video through my character, camera angles and body language to speculate and transition the ideas from Gasper Noe’s film of telling a story about someone’s life.

I recorded this video using my iPhone and in the city contrasting with the chosen film(Enter the Void) and edited it using the iMovie application. This software helped me transition my video as a fade effect in contrast with the transition of fragments in Gasper Neo’s Film.
